Indian Army thwarted the Chinese PLA's attempt to capture the importance peak after an intense face-off on the night of August 28-29 there and occupied the dormant height within its territory.
Chinese side violated this understanding and engaged in provocative military maneuvers in the late night of 29/30 August in an attempt to change the status in the South Bank area of Pangong Lake.
On 31 August, even as ground commanders of two sides were in discussion to de-escalate the situation, Chinese troops again engaged in provocative action. Due to timely defensive action, Indian side was able to prevent these attempts to unilaterally alter status quo.
Both sides position tanks within firing distance at Pangong Tso. The Further movement of Chinese tanks and machinery has been halted because of dominant position held by India's Special Frontier(SFF) at KalaTop as well as army units on other adjoining heights.
